About Me

Lynette Esparza is a LATINX filmmaker and creative originally from Los Angeles, California. Her directorial debut, Wishful Thinking, won Best Screenplay at the Riverside City College Film Festival, was screened at The Great Film Club in Los Angeles, and is currently being considered for additional festivals.

Now based in the Bay Area, Lynette is pursuing a degree in Cinema at San Francisco State University, where she continues to create impactful films. She serves as the host and coordinator of the Bay Area chapter of The Great Film Club (@thegreatfilmclub), an expanding creative community that originated in LA and NYC and has grown to over 70k followers. The club provides a safe and inclusive space for filmmakers to connect and celebrate the art of filmmaking.

Her most recent film, Memories on Rewind, is set to release in Summer 2025 in collaboration with the Queer Women of Color Media Arts Project and will premiere at the QWOCMAP Film Festival in June. She also has two upcoming documentaries: one exploring Bay Area graffiti culture, and another profiling street vendors in Mexico City, both slated for release by the end of the year.

In addition to directing, Lynette has built strong experience in production, working in various capacities across film, fashion, and commercial shoots. She served as an Assistant Director on a range of projects, including the upcoming feature film “Planet”, directed by Jason Carman. She recently 2nd Assistant Directed and styled the spec ad Dreaming of Carhartt, among many others. Lynette also served as Art Director for the rising clothing brand Nothing Lasts Forever, and has worked as a Production Assistant on numerous music videos, fashion shoots, and independent films. She frequently brings her production and visual styling skills into her own work, ensuring a cohesive creative vision across every project.

Lynette is currently a Development and Production Intern at Patriot Pictures, working under Executive Producer Michael Mendelsohn. She also completed a Marketing and Engagement Internship with the Dean of the College of Liberal and Creative Arts at San Francisco State University, where she supported creative initiatives and community outreach. Her past industry experience includes interning for Kharmony Fortune at Unlimited Talent Agency in Los Angeles, where she gained valuable insight into the representation and management side of the entertainment industry. She also previously served as one of the Social Media Managers at popular backpacking hostel Apapacho Hostel in Mexico City, where she contributed to growing the hostel’s digital presence through creative content and strategic storytelling.

With experience across all sides of the entertainment industry—from development to production, marketing, and art direction—Lynette is passionate about storytelling and excited to continue bringing powerful, underrepresented narratives to life.
